Climate Change

Climate change is occurring in Alaska at twice the global rate. Georgetown Tribal Council Staff and Environmental Committee are working towards building a resilient community and ensuring that we are better prepared for the future changes in our environment occurring due to climate change.

Georgetown Tribal Council worked with the GEOS Institute in 2017 to complete a Climate Science Primer and Vulnerability Assessment for the Native Village of Georgetown and surrounding communities.

Our current project is to develop a Middle Kuskokwim Adaptation Plan with the help of the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC). If you are interested in participating in this project, contact the Environmental Department at 907-274-2195 or by email at courtney.osolnik@georgetowntc.com.

Check out our timeline and stay up to date on our project through Facebook and our blog! Fill out our climate survey here!
